(What to Expect & How I Handle It)

If I had a magic wand, I’d use it to control the weather for every photo session. Unfortunately… I don’t 😂 And if you live in Greensboro, NC, you already know our weather can be a little unpredictable.

As a Greensboro maternity, newborn, and family photographer, my goal is always to give you a relaxed, enjoyable experience and beautiful images you’ll love for years. Sometimes, though, Mother Nature has other plans—and that’s okay.

Let’s talk about how weather affects outdoor photo sessions and how rescheduling works.

Why Weather Matters for Your Photo Session

Weather plays a big role in outdoor photography. Things like heavy rain, strong winds, extreme heat, cold snaps, or storms can affect:

  • Your comfort (especially for expecting moms, babies, and little ones)
  • Safety
  • Lighting and image quality

I want your session to feel fun and stress-free—not rushed or uncomfortable. If conditions aren’t ideal, rescheduling is often the best option to make sure you get the best possible results.

How I Handle Weather Decisions

I keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your session date. Usually, I’ll make a final call 24–48 hours before your session, once the forecast is more reliable.

Greensboro weather loves to change its mind, so sometimes we wait and see. Other times, it’s clear that rescheduling is the smartest choice—and I’ll always communicate with you so we can decide together.

What Happens If We Need to Reschedule?

If weather isn’t cooperating, your session will be rescheduled at no additional cost.

We’ll simply find the next available date that works best for your family. This is especially common for:

  • Outdoor family photo sessions
  • Maternity sessions
  • Lifestyle newborn sessions that include outdoor elements

For newborn photography, flexibility is key—babies run the show, and I always build room for adjustments.

How You Can Help Things Go Smoothly

A few simple tips:

  • Try to keep a little flexibility around your session date if possible
  • Trust that I’ll guide you if weather becomes an issue
  • Remember that rescheduling usually leads to better photos

Sometimes waiting a few days makes all the difference.

At the End of the Day…

We can’t control the weather—but we can make sure your experience is positive and your photos are everything you hoped for.

Thank you so much for your understanding, flexibility, and trust. I promise the wait is worth it when you receive images that truly capture this season of your life 🤍
